East Bay Street Bike and Pedestrian Path Extension Opening

The City of Charleston has just completed a 12’ wide ½ mile long concrete pathway extending the existing bike and pedestrian path of the Ravenel Bridge from the bridge to Chapel Street. Over 2,000’ of new granite curbing was installed along with additional street lighting.
Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr, members of City Council, neighborhood representatives and members of the biking community will officially open the path extension at 11:00 on Thursday, June 5, 2008. The ceremony will take place on East Bay Street at the entrance to the bike/ped path to the bridge.
Parking is available in the parking lot provided across East Bay Street for bikers and walkers on the bridge (signs will be placed for directions). Please do not park in the median on East Bay Street.
